Product Empties – Makeup

I have been saving empty product containers since July. I had a basket that was overflowing and finally have taken photos of the containers. I am going to discuss the products and let you know if I have or will repurchase them. Let’s jump into this. I have a mix of mascara, setting spray, foundation, primer, concealer, and eyebrow products.

I have talked about a lot of these previously as well. Starting with the mascara, I have a dried up Neutrogena volume mascara that didn’t work so great. I have a Cargo mascara that was just okay. There are two Soap & Glory mascaras. The thick and fast one from Soap & Glory made my eyes so itchy. I only used it a few time. Finally, there is Tarte’s lights cameras lashes mascara that is so good. It is definitely my favorite out of all five of those mascaras and probably the only one I will repurchase.

There are two Urban Decay setting sprays. The purple topped one is all nighter setting and the gray capped one is the de-slick setting spray. I like both of them. Also, to be fair both weren’t used up in the last few months. It takes me at least three months to go through a whole bottle since only a few sprays are used at a time. I have repurchased multiple times this as it is my favorite.

In the middle is a loose setting powder loose from Tarte. I have other setting powders I like as well so I haven’t repurchased this. Moving on to brow products, there are three micro brow pencils from Nyx. I love this brow pencil and will continue purchasing it until I find something better. I like the control freak eyebrow gel on top on the eyebrow pencil. To the right are two Urban Decay naked skin concealer tubes. By far my favorite concealer and I just finished up another tube.

Finally, is foundation from Soap & Glory. This isn’t empty, but has oxidized and turned to an orange color. I still love the CC+ face cream from It Cosmetics. I am working on the jumbo tube I ordered from QVC last winter. There is an empty one heck of a blot face primer from Soap & Glory. I really enjoyed this primer and will likely repurchase. Finally, there is an eye shadow primer from Tarte that I really enjoyed. I have purchased an anti-aging eye shadow primer from Urban Decay that I really am liking at the moment.

These are the makeup products I have used up. I still have empty hair products and skin care to discuss so stay tuned!

Play by Sephora: October 2016

I like reviewing my monthly Play by Sephora boxes. October’s box was pretty good and I really enjoyed it. Let’s take a look at what was in the box.

Beginning on the left with the pink cap, it is TLC framboos glycolic night serum from Drunk Elephant. It was a nice serum. I didn’t see any immediate results from the sample, but I didn’t mind it. Next, October’s perfume sample was silent st. from Derek Lam 10 Crosby. I did NOT like how this smelled at all. I tested it and immediately threw it out. In the blue box is Madam C.J. Walker’s scent & shine coconut oil. I like putting it on the ends of my hair. The sample size is nice and large too. On the far right is Farmacy’s skin dew mist. When my skin was feeling dry, this was nice to spritz on. Moving to the top, Smashbox’s always on matte liquid lipstick in the color driver’s seat. I really liked this formula and the color is very nice. Lastly, is the flash photo gloss by the Estee Edit. I don’t know how much this gloss actually does in a photo, but it is a nice non-sticky gloss.

I am pleasantly surprised at how much more I am enjoying my monthly Play boxes. If I had to choose between my Birchbox and Play subscriptions, I would choose the Play box. Every month there are six samples and a nice array of different products. I also like there is a perfume sample every month.

Do you get a Play box? What was your October box have in it?

Birchbox: October 2016

Each month, Birchbox has a featured box you are able to choose instead of the usual monthly samples. October’s featured box looked appealing to me, so I chose to receive it instead.

Starting from the left is a sample from Oribe. It is their new gold lust dry shampoo. As always, it smelled amazing like all of the other Oribe products I have tried. I didn’t think it is the greatest dry shampoo, but it was a nice scent refresher. Next, is the Avene hydrance optimale hydrating cream. This was a nice facial moisturizer and was super rich. My skin has been getting more dry and it was a nice sample. Below that is a silk cream lipstick from Make. The color is magnolia and isn’t my favorite. It’s a nice mauve pink, but not totally me.  The green tube is Glamglow’s powermud dualcleanse treatment. Glamglow products are ridiculously expensive, so I like getting samples of their products. This was a nice white clay mask. Finally, the sample from This Works is a deep pillow spray. I think this smells gross – not super calming when you don’t like the smell.

The highlight of October’s box was definitely the Oribe sample. I absolutely LOVE how Oribe products smell. The great smell alone makes up for the fact that the dry shampoo wasn’t the best I’ve tried.

Overall, October’s box was good. I hadn’t received any of these samples before which is good. I’ve been a Birchbox subscriber for over three years, so I’m bound to get repeat samples. Any box where there are no repeats is good in my book.

If you haven’t already subscribed to Birchbox and are interested check it out here with a refer a friend link.
