I’m going to get personal here. We’re friends, so I feel this is a safe place. I have suffered from dandruff on and off for years. I would use dandruff shampoos that would make it go away for a short time, but it would always end up coming back.
Over this past winter, it was especially bad. That was part of the reason I began using dry shampoo and stopped washing my hair so much. Finally, I had enough. I looked into shampoos that would get rid of the dandruff, but wouldn’t strip my hair and make it super dry. On a whim, I purchased Redken’s Scalp Relief shampoo.
It has gotten rid of the dandruff after about three uses. It is amazing and magical. I followed the directions of lathering up and then leaving on my scalp for five minutes. It is a very gentle shampoo that didn’t irritate my scalp at all.
Because I don’t usually wash my hair every day, I can have a lot of build up on my scalp from dry shampoo so I usually shampoo twice. After rinsing this shampoo from my scalp and hair, I follow this one with a hydrating shampoo and then condition like normal.
When searching for a shampoo that would get rid of the dandruff, I also wanted something that didn’t smell terrible and medicinal. Some dandruff shampoos out there smell so horrible. The Redken shampoo has a tea tree oil scent. As first I thought it was strong, but now I don’t mind it at all. I am slowly trying to ween myself off it it so see if the dandruff is completely gone and doesn’t come back.
Do you have any tips and tricks to keep dandruff at bay?
