Those Eyebrows Though…

I think over the last year or two, I have really come to love my eyebrows. I have large, bushy, rectangular shaped eyebrows like my father. It wasn’t until the 8th grade when my mom taught me how to pluck them. I was a changed lady, or awkward teenager.

I have let my eyebrows fill in a bit more now than I did back then. I used to pluck or have them waxed super thin. I think my current eyebrow situation is better suited for me and my face shape. In addition to a tweezers down approach I like to fill in my brows a bit to give them a better shape and consistency. My favorite products for the last six months to a year are these from NYX Cosmetics:

The Micro Brow Pencil and Control Freak Eyebrow Gel are fantastic. I use the color taupe in the brow pencil. Usually, I can’t find it at Ulta or Target when I need it because it is all sold out, so whenever I don’t have a backup I tend to purchase one if I see it. I think I am on my third or fourth brow pencil that I have gone through. I also like the wide range of color options. If I remember correctly, I used to use a darker color, but then discovered taupe is my perfect brow shade and I have not looked back.

The brow pencil has a tiny little waxy nib on the business end and a spooly on the other end. I fill in my brow and then gently comb through with the spooly after. Once I have filled in my brows to my liking, I swipe over top with the Control Freak Eyebrow Gel. This stuff seriously keeps your brows in place. It is a clear eyebrow gel and you simply need a light layer. My eyebrows tend to get a bit unruly when I am changing shirts (usually after my makeup is completed) and this helps keep everything in place.

My eyebrow game is strong because of these two products. The eyebrows are the last thing I do when I am applying my makeup so once I’m done, I spritz on a makeup setting spray and I am on my way.

Do you have any recommendations for your favorite brow products?

Neon Pink Nails Like Whoa

Last weekend, my mom visited and we had a girls weekend filled with shopping and relaxation. My favorite part was getting manicures and pedicures.

I will be honest though, pedicures make me anxious. I don’t like my feet being touched and my feet are super ticklish. The nitty gritty part of the pedicure, i.e. the cuticle trimming, the foot rub, etc. does not relax me at all. Once we get on to the nail painting I am fine and cool as a cucumber.

Manicures are amazing and a great way to relax. I could get a manicure every other week and be perfectly content. I especially love gel manicures. It lasts so much longer and I love it is dry immediately after the manicure and I don’t have to be delicate with my fingers for the next hour.

The above photo I took earlier this week with my phone in my driveway. To be honest, I am not sure of the color name. I tried to find what the color is, but cannot. The brand is Gelish and I picked the most bright and obnoxious pink I could find. I absolutely love it. Bright pink is my nail color of choice for both my fingers and toes. It is also bright and cheery for spring on the not so bright and cheery days in April.

One downfall to gel polish is removing it. I do what you are not supposed to do and usually end up peeling it off. Perhaps I will get in the habit of going more often and getting it redone. We will see.

What are you favorite spring nail polish colors?

My Skincare

Over the last few years, my skin has drastically changed. I’m only 28, but I am beginning to see some fine lines and my skin has been a lot more dry. Over the last year or so, I think I have figured out my skin and what it needs. I’m only going to be talking about facial skincare today. Body skincare is a whole other story.

Recently, I have begun drinking a gallon of water a day. That means I have to pee all the time, but I have noticed a change in my skin already. Earlier this week a small pimple began on my cheek and the next morning it was completely gone. Just amazing and I fully attribute it to the water consumption.

Above are the products I use religiously. I occasionally will use skincare samples that I have, but these are my go-to. First, at night I use the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water to remove my eye makeup. I will also use a face wipe (not shown) to remove all other makeup. At night I double cleanse. I first cleanse with Neutrogena’s Clear Pore Cleanser/Mask. I generally use this as a cleanser only. If my face is feeling oily in the mornings, I use it as a mask, but that is pretty rare. Next, I cleanse a second time with Lush’s Ocean Salt facial scrub. I love this scrub. It smells fantastic and works so well.

After cleansing, I use four or five drops of Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate. This is an oil that I put on my face that I swear by. I have noticed it drastically reduces the redness I have by the morning. It also hydrates my skin. I am a firm believer in fighting oil with oil. When my face gets oily I don’t like using a super drying product. That just makes my skin over produce oil and I end up more oily than I was before. I just picked up another bottle of this and it should last me over a year. I let the oil sink into my skin for a few minutes and then apply Aveeno’s Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer over top. I then go to sleep.

In the morning, it is much less involved. After I shower, I use the Neutrogena cleanser again. I have learned to not wash my face in the shower. The water is too warm for my face which causes more redness for me. After cleansing I follow up with the Aveeno moisturizer again.

This may seem like a lot, but I promise it is not. It takes me about five minutes total morning and night. I think it is five minutes well spent! This is what works for me and I can’t guarantee will work for you, but I do recommend these products because I love them and think they are fantastic. Everything except for the micellar water in the photo above I have repurchased multiple times.

Has your skin changed and if so, how? What are your favorite skincare products? I am curious about what works for you!
