My Go To Eye Shadow Palettes

After a much longer than intended hiatus, I am back! My husband and I have moved and settled into our new (old) home. I want to talk about eye shadow and my love for it.

I only have a few eye shadow palettes I use every single day. These are the few, with the Cover Girl palette being a relatively new addition. I tend to reach for browns and nudes usually. I think I wore too much blue eye shadow when I was a teenager, so now I like to play it cautious.

My use-every-day palette is the Urban Decay Naked Basics 2. This is the one I reach for every morning when I’m getting ready for work. My favorite shade is obviously frisk as it is almost gone.

I like to put frisk (left center) all over my lid and then use primal (second from right and second darkest brown) in the crease of my eyelid. I like the Naked Basics 2 palette because it is an all matte palette and provides a good base for the eyelid. My normal day to day eyeliner is a metallic brown eyeliner so I like the contrast of the matte eyelid to a more shimmery eyeliner on my upper lash line. If I’m looking to spice things up or use a few more colors I tend to reach to the Urban Decay Naked palette. Urban Decay has come out with three different Naked palettes and I think the original one is my favorite. It is the only one I have so that could play into it as well.

My favorite shade in the Naked palette is sidecar (fourth from the left). Sidecar is a shimmery brown that is just gorgeous. I also really like smog (three over from sidecar).

The newest eye shadow palette in my makeup collection is the Cover Girl Trunaked Nudes palette. I think it’s definitely a play on the Urban Decay palettes, but at a much more affordable price. I have only used it a few times, but so far I like what I have tried. The texture of this Cover Girl palette is very smooth with good color payoff. There is a bit more fall out from the pigment onto my cheeks with this palette, but nothing a little swipe of a powder brush can’t clear up.

Cover Girl makes two other variations of their Trunaked palettes. I’m interested in those as well. If you have them, let me know your thoughts! I’ve had the Urban Decay palettes  for at least two years so they are tried and true eye shadow palettes for me. They may be more expensive, but they have lasted me a very long time and the quality is top notch. What are your favorite eye shadow palettes? What is your go to eye shadow color?
